The River Mawddach
Sea Trout Fishing on the Mawddach and Wnion
The River Mawddach (Afon
Mawddach) has its source in Snowdonia, North Wales. The main
tributaries are the Afon Cwm Mynach, Afon Gamlan, Afon
Eden, Afon Gain, Afon Wen and Afon Wnion. Below Dolgellau,
the River Mawddach enters a lovely wide sandy estuary with
the town of Barmouth at its mouth.

Sea Trout Fishing on the Rivers Mawddach and Wnion
Dolgellau Angling Association controls 13
miles of prime sea trout fishing on the Rivers Mawddach and
Wnion with day and weekly permits available to visiting
anglers at reasonable cost. The rivers produce excellent sea
trout catches throughout the summer months, with a ten year
average, to 2009, of 959 sea trout per year, some in double
figures.
