Sea Trout Fishing on the River Nevern
Nevern Angling Association has six miles of sea trout
fishing on the River Nevern, which has produced a ten year average
catch (to 2009) of 708 sea trout per season. The sea trout run
normally begins in early May, peaking in July, with grilse following
in July and on to the end of the season in October. The association
is run by committed local volunteers and offers reasonably priced
season and weekly tickets to both local and visiting anglers.
Fly fishing and spinning are the main methods
and worming is allowed on all beats except the Penwaun stretch.
Night fly fishing is productive, with the old favourite flies like
Butcher, Teal and Silver and Black Pennell ever popular.
