Sea Trout Fishing on the Tamar
The River Tamar is one of the best salmon and
sea trout rivers in the southwest of England, with a
recorded catch of 298 in 2008. There is excellent fly water
on its middle and lower reaches, with the best of the sea
trout (or peal as they are known locally) fishing from
June onwards.

Launceston Anglers Association have access to more than
thirteen miles of fishing on the Rivers Tamar, Carey, Ottery
and Inny. Membership is open to all. Membership is limited
to 100 members but there were vacancies in March 2016. The
club also offer day permits for salmon and sea trout at £20
and a weekly permit at £50.
Endsleigh Fishing Club has fishing on
9
miles of the lower River Tamar below Greystone Bridge. The fishing is almost exclusively fly
fishing and is divided into 6 Beats which are fished in
rotation. There are 10 - 12 named pools on each beat, except
Beat 6 which has additional tidal water. Prices: Salmon
£30-70 +VAT per rod/day.
The Arundell Arms Hotel, Lifton, also offers
sea trout fishing on the Tamar.
