The River Towy
Sea Trout Fishing on the Towy and Cothi
The River Towy (Tywi) rises in the Cambrian
Mountains above Llyn Brianne Reservoir. Below Llyn Brianne
the gradient lessens and the Towy then meanders through rich
farmland to enter the sea at Carmarthen, a journey from
source to sea of 111Km. The Towy generally has the highest
sea trout catch in England and Wales, with a ten year
average catch, to 2009, of 3298 sea trout per year, closely
followed by the Teifi with 3082.
